Sausage & Cheese Pasta – Hot Lunch Idea – My Fussy Eater

If your kids like a hot meal for their lunch then here’s a simple pasta recipe that you can whip up in 10 minutes in the morning.

This is a great recipe for kids who don’t like their pasta with tonnes of thick sauce. It’s a very basic cheesy sauce but not overwhelming or overpowering.

The first step is to cook up some pasta in a saucepan.

The recipe makes one single portion but you can of course double or triple it if you are making for a few children.

Pasta cooking in a pan of boiling water.

Next cut the skin off a chicken sausage. Cutting the skin off serves too purposes:

Firstly, it makes the the sausage less of a choking hazard. And secondly, it means you can break the sausage up and it will cook a lot quicker.

I used chicken sausages but pork, turkey or veggie sausages will work just as well too.

Skinned sausage laying in a frying pan.

Fry the sausage for a few minutes then add some frozen peas, along with a little of the water that the pasta is cooking is.

Then stir in some grated cheddar cheese.

Frozen peas being added to the cooked sausage meat.

Finally, drain the pasta and add that to the frying pan, mixing everything together really well.

And that’s it!

All ingredients being mixed together in a pan using a wooden spoon.

Add the pasta to a food flask. Be sure to preheat the food flask first to help keep the pasta warm. Instructions for preheating are all down below in the recipe card.

And remember to pack a fork!
